Technically Teaching (Lynn's Blog)

This blog will address my thoughts about using technology with elementary students. Many elementary teachers are apprehensive to incorporate technology into the curriculum. My goal is to be an instrument of change in that area and to be an encouragement to my fellow Educators as they discover the many benefits of using technology in their classrooms.

Comic Life Fun

I made this "reminder card" for one of my students using Comic Life. Our SLP, Linda, mapped it all out for me and came up with the plan - bless her, she drew pictures and explained it all to him. I got a wild idea to try to use real photos to show him how it should work. The red side sort of goes along with the red/green card game played in the first steps program, this student hasn't been in the program, but he knows that red is for the undesirable behavior, and green is the good stuff. We'll see how it works, no matter what, it was fun trying!

Teacher's Hub

My America Reads student told me about a good website this morning. Teachers_Hub is a great place to find resources. There is a section called “Quiz_Hub” where you can find a lot of great quizzes & games to practice a wide range of skills (spelling, multiplication, homophones, geography, vocabulary, U.S. History) and lots of puzzles & games like chess, mancala, mastermind, simon and sudoku. I haven’t spent a lot of time looking at this site, but I’m sure it’s full of a lot of things that I can use with kids!
