Internet Research
I have been looking into Internet Research strategies for a class that I am taking online through the University of Florida. The article linked here lists nine good reasons to conduct internet-based research in your classroom. There are many different research strategies. I tried one today called a "hotlist". My new "hotlist" Summer Fun Tour of Lincoln is what it sounds like, a list of websites that lead to Summer Fun in Lincoln, Nebraska! The thought is that this will create an easy-to-access listing of interrelated websites pertaining to one subject - in essence, equivalent to rolling in a big cart full of maps, encyclopedias, tour guides & other reference materials. My next big project is to create a "webquest". This is similar to the hotlist in that it does provide numerous internet resources with a common subject, but this research project requires the direct participation of the student.
